BENJAMIN BUTTON - THE BACKWARDS AGE OF ROMANCE

Once again after watching Valkyrie, here is the review about The Curios Case of Benjamin Button. he Curious Case of Benjamin Button tells the haunting, existential fable of a man, born at the close of World War I, who ages backwards while those around him age forward, the old-fashioned way.It is the end of the Great War in 1918, America. His mother dies giving birth to him and he is said to be on his way to the grave - or so it seems. The baby is abandoned by his father on some steps outside a care home.

The humble and down-to-earth care worker Queenie (Taraji P.Henson) stumbles across the baby and decides to raise him as her own.

By some miracle he gets younger as time passes while those around him grow old and die. He meets his childhood love Daisy (Blanchett) at the care home.

But when he reaches his late teens he decides to leave (still with the appearance of a pensioner) and get a job on a tug-boat out at sea.

However his love with Daisy is all but lost and their lives begin to entwine as their ages draw closer, with some other romances and adventures on the way.

The whole story is told through an old-looking Daisy close to death at a New Orleans Hospital, present day, with her daughter Caroline who reads a book written by Benjamin about his life.

Caroline also learns that Benjamin is her real father, but in an attempt by the film-makers to create some poignancy, Benjamin admits that Daisy cannot cope with the baby and him, so he leaves.

The themes of time, life and death are strongly prevalent throughout this fantastical tale.

A calm atmosphere surrounds it and there are some beautiful backdrops. The special effects used on Pitt to cheat time are nothing short of outstanding.

Some genuinely lovely moments and sprinkles of humour here and there does make the film thoroughly engrossing.

VALKYRIE - OBSESSION FOR THE POWER

Well readers, today Valkyrie movie release as usual my job is watch the movie while working. The history of killing Adolf Hitler back in the World War 2. The obsession for the power in German.

United Artists latest feature film, VALKYRIE, starring Tom Cruise, is a vivid drama based on a true story. This film gives an up close and personal view of the conspiracy to assassinate one of history’s most evil dictators, Adolf Hitler.

Known for his intense action films like Top Gun and the Mission Impossible trilogy, Tom Cruise brings his intensity to Valkyrie as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg. Wounded in North Africa in May 1943 during World War II, von Stauffenberg returns to Germany a crippled man with a changed view of the war and of the German Nazi leadership.

Approached by a group of conspirators against Hitler and his regime, von Stauffenberg is called upon to use his status as a war hero to get close to Hitler and facilitate the assassination. The short action sequences help to drive home the impact of the task they are undertaking. The plot becomes so complex it includes overthrowing the state police (SS) and hijacking the Berlin reserve army forces all at the same time the explosive goes off, presumably killing Hitler on 20 July 1944. The complexity of the plan is well played out in the film as are the interpersonal relationships. The conspirators in the German Resistance know their actions mean certain death if they are caught, but are resolved to make that sacrifice to stop the atrocities being committed.

The film itself is shot very up-close and personal with the actors. Most of the film is focused to within 3ft which helps to bring out the personal intensity, but also hinders the scenes surroundings. This detracts somewhat from allowing the audience to feel included in the film. The scenes were well played, but l would have liked to see a more developed background to the plot. The movie assumes the audience already knows a decent amount of the historical background, but it should have been included for future generations. I feel that omission is what detracts mainly from this film being of great historical value.

Overall I found this film to be a great portrayal of real events and for the most part historically accurate. The alliteration to Valkyrie in 3 different ways (the definition of Odin’s handmaidens who conducted the souls of the slain “Hitler” to Valhalla, Hitler’s Operation Valkyrie, and Richard Wagner’s The Ride of the Valkyries musical score), was woven nicely to help cement the title. From the start Valkyrie well shows the indoctrination the German military was subjected to, focused on winning their loyalty for one man, not for the German people as a whole. Alternately, it certainly helped to recover the sacrifices made by the German Resistance during World War II to fight against tyranny, which many people over look today. This film is an example of their voice saying “We are all not like him.”

CHANGELING IS A CHALLENGING STORY

Dear readers, today is the movie release of Changeling [Child Kidnapper]. As usual I watch the first show while I'm working...lolz...I recommend you all to watch this movie...the must see movie of the year I can say...It's all about between a mother lost her child. It's not a small story but its how the movie was brought for the audience. A true story that is as incredible as it is compelling, "Changeling" brushes away the romantic notion of a more innocent time to reveal a Los Angeles circa 1928 awash in corruption and steeped in a culture that treats women as hysterical and unreliable beings when they challenge male wisdom.

In March 1928, Christine Collins' nine-year-old son Walter vanishes. Five months later, the LAPD, already under the gun for other unsolved crimes, calls out the press and delivers to Christine a boy who claims to be her son but is not. To avoid embarrassment, Captain Jones (Jeffrey Donovan) demands she take the boy home on a "trial basis." When she continues to insist that the LAPD needs to find her real son, Jones does what the department always does with troublesome citizens -- he locks her up in a psycho ward.

A radio minister, Gustav Briegleb (John Malkovich), takes up her cause and challenges the police version of events. Meanwhile, another officer, Detective Ybarra (Michael Kelly), launches an investigation into a potential serial killer (Jason Butler Harner) that not only proves Christine's contention but exposes the force, its chief and the mayor to the wrath of a citizenry fed up with living in a police state.

The movie with full of pain and anger showed how much a person that we love has gone but easily can be replace by another person. The moment I watch the movie I felt that I was in Christine's life. A challenging story when Christine keeps on searching of her son till she gets him. A must watch movie that I recommend readers to watch it.
